Roquetas de Mar

Meeting Point is in Roquetas de Mar, which is in the province of Almería, situated in the south east of Spain on the shores of the Mediterranean.

Roquetas de Mar is a popular costal town just 20 minutes from the capital city of Almería, offering a great variety of restaurants, bars, shops and sporting facilities.

Roquetas beachMany Spanish people take their holidays in Roquetas, and the town has a fun and lively atmosphere all year round, with the added advantage of being one of the provinces of Spain with the lowest cost of living. As tourism is regulated in this area, Roquetas remains Spanish through and through, unlike other towns along the south coast of Spain, and with 25km of sandy beaches, what better place to learn Spanish whilst soaking up the rich culture, and of course, the sun!

Fiestas and ferias (festivals) happen all year round, but are most frequent during spring and summer. Roquetas de mar celebrates its most important festival in honour of the town's patron saint the Virgin del Carmen, on the 25th and 26th of July, with a maritime procession of decorated boats, open-air dances and fireworks. If you come for August you will be able to experience the Feria of Almería, a 10-day long, 24 hours a day cultural festival that has everything, whatever your taste. Difficult to describe - must be experienced!
