Meeting Point Method (MPM)

The Meeting Point Method (MPM) is a communicative approach to language. This means that we focus on the social, cultural and pragmatic elements of language, to try to give our students linguistic fluency, and not just grammatical correctness In other words, we are concerned with providing the students with lifelong language skills.

The MPM takes into account the following approaches, which each teacher will select and combine according to the capabilities and preferences of each group.

Interactive Learning:
This involves a lot of pair and group work in the classroom, as well as genuine language input from the "real world" for meaningful communication.
Student centred Learning:
This means giving the students themselves a part in the decision making process in their language learning. (Use of feedback forms)
Content-based Learning:
This refers to linking language learning to a subject matter, and learning both about the subject matter and engaging language skills. We have debates on numerous subjects and learn about a whole range of Andalusian and Spanish topics.

You will spend much your time in class speaking. During speaking activities your teacher will sometimes correct you at the same time as you are speaking, and sometimes you will be corrected afterwards (the teacher will take notes), for example when you are doing role plays or taking part in debates, during grammar practice. On other occasions, you won’t be corrected as the teacher will want you to focus more on fluency and communicating your ideas.

The MPM is based on a balance of accuracy and fluency in speaking that will help you to progress quickly and effectively.
