Levels

The structure of our levels is based on the system developed by ALTE (Association of Language Testers in Europe) and the Instituto Cervantes.

Level Beginners

This first level is designed for students with little or no knowledge of Spanish. The program covers basic grammar, spelling, phonetics, useful phrases and day-to-day communication situations. The aim of this level is to give students the language skills needed to converse in an acceptable level of Spanish in a variety of different situations.

This level corresponds to levels A1 and A2 of the Instituto Cervantes.

  • A1 (Nivel inicial o acceso): No notions of the Spanish language. Not capable of conveying simple messages.
  • A2 (Nivel elemental o plataforma):Some notions of the Spanish language, especially spoken Spanish. Able to construct and understand short sentences.

Level Intermediate

Level B is suitable for students who already have a basic grounding of Spanish, and want to improve their knowledge to be able communicate with more fluidity and confidence. The initial part of this level consists of a quick revision of basic Spanish. From here on the student will learn new grammatical structures, verbs, idiomatic use of Spanish: sayings etc. The aim of this level is to enable the student to express his or herself spontaneously in everyday situations.

This level corresponds with levels B1 and B2 of the Instituto Cervantes.

  • B1 (Nivel intermedio o umbral): Capable of producing or understanding oral and written messages of medium difficulty. Use of complex grammar structures but with basic mistakes.
  • B2 (Nivel avanzado):Able to understand difficult oral and written messages and use complex grammar structures with small mistakes. High level of communication ability.

Level Superior

Students of this level have a very high level of Spanish, but would like to perfect their knowledge. The aim of this course is to give the student the ability to communicative almost as a native Spanish speaker, to enable the student to understand even the most difficult Spanish accent and to refine pronunciation and intonation.

This level corresponds with levels C1 and C2 of the Instituto Cervantes.

  • C1 (Nivel alto o de dominio operativo eficaz): Advanced level of Spanish and able to use complex grammatical structures seldom making mistakes.
  • C2 (Nivel superior o maestría): Not only has a good knowledge of Spanish and is able to use complex grammatical structures without error, but also possess a wide vocabulary and is able to understand and communicate at a superior level.
