Type of intensive courses

We offer four different types of intensive courses: part-time (10 hours per week); intensive (20 hours per week); semi-intensive (15 hours per week) and super-intensive (30 hours per week). The minimum duration is two weeks, with a maximum of 8 students per class.

Students will take an oral and written test on the first Monday in order to be placed in the appropriate level.

Part-time (10 hours per week) Grammar

This is a mainly theoretical course, focussing on grammar with some communication classes. The student is strongly encouraged to complete his/her study by doing exercises at home and interacting with the environment, either through extra activities organised by Meeting Point, or by simply talking to the neighbour, going to the cinema etc.: putting in to practice the theory learnt in class.

Class times: 2 hours a day, Monday - Friday.

This course is often chosen by students living and working in Almería, who have the opportunity to practice speaking outside the academy, but lack formal grammar knowledge to be able to make sense of the language. The course aims to give the student a solid base from which they can build language skills and which will enable them to speak Spanish correctly and fluently.

Semi-intensive course (15 hours per week) Grammar + communication

This course is both theoretical and practical. Special focus is given to the communication part of the course, obliging the students to speak in Spanish from day 1. Students of this course are encouraged to study after class, and are given exercises to complete at home. This course is both theoretical and practical. Special focus is given to the communication part of the course, obliging the students to speak in Spanish from day 1. Intensive course (20 hours per week) Grammar + communication + culture

This is our most popular course, due to the fact that it gives the student a complete cultural and linguistic immersion. As in the semi-intensive and part-time courses, the student is given a firm grounding of grammar, but the emphasis of this course is on practical communication.

The student will gain also knowledge of Spain's unique socio-cultural mix through a look at its major historical events, artistic movements and economic circumstances. The culture and society class will also look at the rich and varied culture of Andalusia and its people. These classes will be given in Spanish and encourage student participation. Some classes are given 'on-location' and include guided visits to local historical and cultural sites. Guest speakers are invited to contribute to some of these classes.

Class times: 4 hours a day, Monday - Friday

This course is specially recommended for those students who as well as wanting to learn the Spanish language, are also interested in the culture, traditions and the people of this fascinating country.

Super-intensive course (30 hours per week) Double grammar + double communication + culture

This course follows the same structure as the intensive course, but also has afternoon classes of grammar and communication.
